And by the way, what other word than craft are you supposed to use, when you make spacecraft ?

I don't know, why don't you use the word "ship" then, when you manufacture a spaceship ?
Or "modulate" when you're building, er... modules ?

Because crafting means building, and shipping doesn't, perhaps ?

PS : it was a trap, you fell in it.

Funny, the wiki says it's only one of the meaning the word has...

to craft (third-person singular simple present crafts, present participle crafting, simple past crafted, past participle crafted)

 1. To make by hand and with much skill.
 2. To construct, develop something (like a skilled craftsman): "state crafting", "crafting global policing."

The internet is fun. You can be a smart arse in any subject, at the press of a button

Feel free to check wikitionary, which is a dictionnary.

 wikitionnary, craft

I don't have writing rights on it. Check the last modification if you want, it was one month ago. Thank you for attributing me the gift of foresight and the will to use it to win a E-peen hair-splitting argument one month later, however, it wasn't my doing.

Quote: "to craft", as a verb, indeed, means the same as "build" or "manufacture".
But when used as a substantive, it can mean "ship" or "vehicle"... or it can mean the skill/occupation of somebody has, as a builder/manufacturer.

Well since you didn't say that crafting is inappropriate for building ships... I don't care much whether it's a trap or not. Words have more than one meaning, and it's stupid to try prevent people to use perfectly legit words for something. That is all I wanted to say.

Quote: However, the word is deprecated even in day-to-day use, and because this is not a fantasy game, the term "to craft" used instead of "to build" is a sign you are coming from a fantasy-based MMO background.

Yes, the sole point of this thread is somehow to acert the mental superiority of "eveOnliners" over players of fantasy MMORPG through use of specific words. Which makes me want to break this post apart, and show its foolishness.
